The Best Spots for Engagement Photos in NYC
Central Park
This is where I take couples most, and for good reason. Within a short walk you get Bow Bridge, Bethesda Terrace, the tree-lined Mall and quiet paths that feel miles from the city. It works in every season and gives us lots of different looks without long travel. (More Central Park spots here.)
The Courthouses at Foley Square
One of my favorite hidden gems. The massive columns and wide steps of the New York County Supreme Court and the courthouses around Foley Square give you a grand, timeless look. It’s the same backdrop my City Hall couples love after their ceremony.
The New York Public Library, Grand Central and Times Square
Couples love the Library. We usually start on the front steps with the lions and the architecture behind you, then head inside for even more. It’s a popular spot, so we brace ourselves for crowds, but it’s worth it. The best part is that Grand Central and Times Square are just a few minutes away, so you can get three iconic New York looks in one session. (See a real NYPL engagement session.)

Brooklyn Bridge and DUMBO
If you want the skyline, this is the spot. The bridge’s stone arches and the Manhattan views from DUMBO are pure New York. Go early in the morning to avoid the crowds.
What Actually Happens During Your Session
The first 10 minutes are just us talking and getting comfortable. We’ll already have planned your vision ahead of time, so on the day I want you relaxed and laughing. I like to play music, because it helps you get into the vibe. Some couples come with poses in mind. Others want direction, so I’ll give you actions and movements instead of stiff poses, and everybody responds to something different.
And when I get a great shot, I show it to you. That’s usually the moment everything changes. Once you see how good you look, you get into the groove and start having fun, and from there it just flows like magic.
2 Hours or 3 Hours: How Much Can You Fit In?
2-hour session ($800): 2 locations or 2 outfits. Best for a focused session with no rushing.
3-hour session ($1,000): 2 locations and 2 outfits. Best for variety, with breathing room to relax.
What to Wear (and How to Get Around)
Wear something you’re comfortable moving in. In Manhattan there’s a lot of walking and a lot of stairs, so you want to move freely. Bring practical shoes and your heels, then swap between spots or have someone hold them for you.
Skip driving if you can. Parking in the city is a hassle, so take an Uber or the train. And if you take the train into Grand Central, that’s a photo spot right there.
The Best Season for Engagement Photos in NYC
Honestly, there’s no bad season. Spring is full of lush colors and blossoms. Summer has great weather and long days. Fall brings rich, golden tones, especially in Central Park. Winter gives you an epic winter wonderland feel. Every season looks different, and every one works.
