NYC Elopement Photographer: Plan a Custom Day Around the City (Photo + Video)

An NYC elopement can be a quick City Hall ceremony with a few portraits after, or a full day exploring the city together. As your NYC elopement photographer and videographer, I help you build that day from scratch, around the New York you want to see.

Book a free consultation and we’ll plan your elopement day together, with photo, video, or both.

What an NYC Elopement Can Look Like

There’s no standard elopement, and that’s the beauty of it. Some couples want a 15-minute ceremony at City Hall and a walk around the Civic Center for photos. Others want a full day of rooftops, yellow cabs and Central Park. It can be as grandiose as you want or as small as you want. It just has to be yours.

Start With Your Vibe: Modern Skyline or Classic New York

Before we pick a single spot, I ask what you want to experience. Do you want the modern, high-rise grandeur of Summit One Vanderbilt, DUMBO and Times Square at night? Or the old New York feel of Grand Central, the New York Public Library and Central Park? Once we know your vibe, the spots almost pick themselves.

A Sample NYC Elopement Day

If you asked me to plan your perfect route, it might look like this:

  • Sunrise: Brooklyn Bridge, when it’s nearly empty and the sun lights up the Manhattan skyline

  • Early morning: DUMBO, with the Manhattan Bridge framed between old brick buildings

  • Morning: your ceremony at City Hall, a short walk from the bridge

  • Late morning: Grand Central, then the view from Summit One Vanderbilt next door

  • Midday: the New York Public Library steps and lunch in Bryant Park

  • Golden hour: Bethesda Terrace and Bow Bridge in Central Park

  • After dark: Times Square and a yellow cab ride to dinner

Every stop is optional. Swap it, shorten it, or add whatever matters to you.

Getting Around the City (in a Dress)

This is where being from the area helps. Most couples don’t realize how much travel shapes the day: subway timing, traffic, and the fact that we’re moving around with someone in a dress. I build in 20 to 30 minutes between stops so nothing feels rushed. A yellow cab or a subway ride isn’t just how we get there, either. Those make some of the most New York photos of the day. And it’s not just about capturing photos. It’s about enjoying the time and living in the moment.

Permits, Rules and a Rain Plan

For a City Hall ceremony, my NYC City Hall wedding guide covers booking, fees and what to bring. In Central Park, elopements usually don’t need a permit, because NYC Parks requires one only for groups of 20 or more. If your group is bigger, plan for the permit, which takes about 30 days. Grand Central allows handheld cameras, but tripods, lights and stabilizers need an MTA permit, so I plan my gear around that. Summit One Vanderbilt uses timed tickets, so book ahead. If it rains, Grand Central, the Library and the Oculus keep the day going under cover.

New York Will Make You Feel Like a Celebrity

Here’s the part nobody tells you. When you’re getting married in NYC, everybody is so nice. As you walk around, strangers congratulate you and tell you how beautiful you look. You’ll almost feel like a celebrity, and not in a bad way. You’re not bombarded. You just get this feeling of love, happiness and joy. New Yorkers still treat marriage like something sacred, and that warmth carries you through the whole day.

Photo, Video or Both: Custom Elopement Pricing

Every elopement is different, so I don’t use packages. A quick courthouse ceremony and a full day around the city are two very different days, so I quote each one after we plan it together. You can choose photography, videography, or both. With video, you get to hear your vows and the sound of the city again, not just see them.

Planning an NYC Elopement? Let’s Build Your Day

This is for couples who want a day that feels like them, not a template. That could be City Hall plus portraits, a full-day adventure, or something in between. You’ll get a photographer and videographer who knows the city, plans the travel, and keeps the day fun from the first photo to the last.

Send me your date and the vibe you’re dreaming of, and we’ll set up your free consultation.
